We'll come Elstree's larger sister - Borehamwood - for a future blog, but a brand new book our celebrates 90 years of film and TV filming at Elstree studios, so now seems a good time to look at what is essentially one of Herfordshire's villages.

Elstree is perhaps best known for its studios and the aerodrome - much used during World War 2. It also houses Aldenham Country Park and is on the London Loop walk.

A number of celebrities have been linked to Elstree, including Joan Collins and Anthony Newley, Anna Neagle, Simon Cowell and TV producer Lew Grade, known as Baron Grade, of Elstree.

Elstree Studios is actually a collection of several different venues for film and TV production and has been the location for filming of a huge number of blockbuster films (including various episodes of the St Wars franchise, The Dam Busters and Moby Dick), plus TV shows like Strictly Come Dancing and Pointless.
