FAVOURITE OR LIKE?

Does the new Twitter heart make more sense than a star?

Is this just Twitter copying Facebook?

You will probably have noticed that your 'Favourites' list has become a 'Likes' list instead.

Twitter says it's because you can't have lots of favourites which, semantically, makes sense. What Twitter doesn't say is that it's copying Facebook's Like function.

Twitter also says it's changing to become simpler for new users. For those of us who've been using it for seven years or so, it seems a little unnecessary, but maybe it's adding some consistency. It's also adding the heart to Vine, its mini-video app and Periscope, for live streaming.

So, do you prefer seeing a red heart when someone's liked your tweet? Does this make any difference at all?
