TOWN FOCUS – WATFORD

Our day in Watford started off with a great Biz Buzz networking meeting, where we met loads of great local businesses, for example, @Bodyslimline, @SB_Alliance_UK, @ThriveYourLife. Biz Buzz is a great no strings attached, local B2B networking group. The Watford group is held at The Rising Sun on Ascot Road. Check out their website for more info: http://www.business-buzz.org/

Watford feels like the ‘London’ of Hertfordshire.Transport for London has two Overground stops, one underground stop and there are also the familiar red London buses going around! Watford is great place to do business; it’s in a good location, with great connections to central London - you can travel from Watford to central London in 40 minutes by train or the underground tube.

On the face of it Watford may seem like all work and no play, but we decided to look deeper and show you the usual Hertfordshire charm, which wasn’t hard to find. Yes, certain parts of Watford can be a crazy metropolitan circus but there is also a lovely calmer side to Watford. Take Cassiobury Park for example. Taking the first step into the park was akin to stepping into the Hertfordshire countryside. We were greeted with beautiful flowers and towering trees. This was just the onset of the park; Cassiobury Park is a whopping 190 acres! In the park itself you have plenty of activities for children including a ‘splash pool’ for those hot summer days, a river you can paddle on, a park and even a farm! There are also plenty of sports facilities and lots of nature and historical attractions to suit the whole family.

Watford really is not one to skip over, especially as it is undergoing £100 million worth of improvements to revamp the infamously rowdy high street. Oh and Geri Halliwell of the Spice Girls was born there!

Be sure to leave a comment, we’d love to now your thoughts on Watford.
